QUETTA - A complete shutter-down strike was observed in Zhob on Monday to condemn the murder of six labourers hailing from the district, who were shot dead by armed men in Shadi Kor area of Pasni the other day.
The strike call had been given by Bashar Dost Carven to protest the murder of labourers. All business centres and markets remained closed in Zhob town while the highway connecting Balochistan to the Punjab was also shut by the protesters for several hours.
Hundreds of protesters, led by the Bashar Dost Carven leaders, including Maulvi Abdul Manan, Hafiz Hazrat Gul and Maulvi Nek Muhammad, took out a rally which marched through various roads of the city and ended at Central Chowk.
Addressing the protesters, speakers strongly condemned the murder of six labourers and termed it an act of terrorism. “Despite the governor’s rule in the province the incidents of terrorism are occurring,” they lamented, adding the government should not keep tight-lipped over this tragic incident and take stern action against those responsible for the incident.
Fake degrees lead to termination of officials in Balochistan: The Balochistan Education Department has terminated the services of five employees, including two daughters of Chairman Balochistan Public Service Commission Ashraf Magsi, following an investigation by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) regarding fake degrees.
“All five employees were working in grade 17 and have been terminated after verification by the university proved that their degrees were fake,” a media report quoted NAB official as revealing on condition of anonymity.
Earlier, NAB had conducted raid at the office of BPSC chairman after receiving complaints about irregularities and violation of merit in appointments.
NAB had also detained the directors. However, the officials were set free following a bail order from the Balochistan High Court.
NAB has also arrested former Director School Yousaf Kahoda for violating merit in terms of appointments. A NAB official said that Kahoda had appointed dozens of employees in the provincial education department in violation of merit.
