ISLAMABAD - Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) on Thursday expressed satisfaction over security arrangements planned for Mansoor Ijaz and decided to provide him another opportunity to appear before the committee in next meeting scheduled to be held on February 10th.
‘Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) has decided to provide another opportunity to Mansoor Ijaz to appear and justify his stance in memo case’, said Chairman PCNS Senator Raza Rabbani briefing the media about the proceedings of the Committee.
Rabbani said that Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) feels security arrangements seemingly proper for Mansoor Ijaz.
‘Committee has yet to receive response from Mansoor Ijaz or from his counsel albeit he had been asked to submit response by Thursday’, he said ,adding, that DG ISI and former envoy to US Hussain Haqqani have already submitted their replies to the Committee.
Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS), he said, has asked concerned authorities to send another notice to Mansoor Ijaz through Foreign Office and Secretary of Memo Commission would also be directed to convey notice when he would receive Ijaz on his arrival. To a question if Mansoor would again not appear, he said that the Committee would finalise its recommendations on memo case.
Rabbani did not share whether the Parliament or the Prime Minister would be forwarded the Committee’s recommendations.
The meeting was given a detailed briefing by Attorney General Maulvi Anwar-ul-Haq on security arrangements for Mansoor Ijaz.
He also shared the communication of government with the Blackberry company.
It is relevant to note here that notices were issued to Manssor Ijaz on Thursday through the Foreign Office asking him to appear before the commission on February 10th to justify his position.
The Committee had already issued notice to Ijaz to submit his reply till January 26th but no reply was submitted.
