LAHORE – The law enforcement agencies have arrested four alleged terrorists associated with the banned militant outfit Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) involved in an attack on a Frontier Corps Convoy in Kangri area of Musakhel district, 350 km northeast of Quetta on Nov 21 last year.
Above 15 security personnel including an FC Major and a non-commissioned officer were among the dead and several other soldiers were injured badly. Minutes after the deadliest attack, the outlawed BLA had claimed the responsibility for carrying out such a massive attack. The convoy led by Major Aamir Shahzad was going to Musakhel to provide security to a newly-found coal reserves in the area and was attacked near Bahlol village in Kingri area of Tehsil Duki.
The security sources disclosed to TheNation that these terrorists were under treatment at a private hospital (Yusuf Surgical) in Dera Ghazi Khan for the multiple bullet injuries they sustained in exchange of fire in that incident. As per details, a federal security agency, on a clue, raided the hospital to make the arrests and rounded up the four terrorists namely Abdul Rasheed Mumdani, Saleem Goorchani, Abdul Razzaq Goorchani and Edu. All are in their late 20s and belonged to Kohlu and Barkhan areas. Security sources said Musakhel district, which is dominated by ethnic Pashtuns and borders the Baloch-dominated district of Kohlu, had seen several private coalmines closed because of tribal disputes.
The terrorists have also confessed to their involvement in the incident during the comprehensive interrogation conducted by the country’s supreme security agency and other law enforcement departments. Currently they are in the custody of FC for further interrogation.
According to the security sources, the arrested terrorists are among the armed assailants, who had fired several Indian made rockets at the convoy and used heavy automatic weapons. “They have disclosed the astonishing revelations about the operations and modus operandi of the banned militant outfit BLA,” said sources adding, these terrorists had sustained injuries on their lower parts of their bodies and were initially treated by local doctors at private clinics and cottages. However, due to damaging injuries, these RAW-backed anti-state elements were admitted to the aforementioned private Yousuf Surgical hospital where the owner of the hospital provided them initial medical treatment. “Yes, the owner-cum-doctor has also been held for interrogation because – morally and legally – he was bound to inform the law enforcement agencies about such most wanted terrorists,” security sources stated. They said, “Several security teams thoroughly interrogated them and later they were produced before Anti-Terrorism Court’s Judge Chaudhry Imtiaz Ahmed”.
Now the miscreants have been handed over to FC for further investigation, sources said.
