An ISPR statement here on Sunday said that Lieutenant Colonel Naseem looking after the West Zone went around in Banaras area and reviewed the ongoing verification survey.
He visited the Assistant Registration Officer's office and was briefed that the house count in Banaras area has been completed and now the voters verification is 70 per cent completed.
INP adds: The Election Commission of Pakistan has demanded an increase in the strength of army personnel for verification of voter lists.
According to sources, the Chief Election Commissioner has written a letter to Corps Commander Karachi, saying that additional army strength is needed for the verification of the voters list in Karachi. Presently, over 4,000 army personnel are involved in the verification of voter lists in Karachi but this is a small number for such a heavily populated mega city as Karachi.
