Political workers among three killed in Karachi

KARACHI – Three people, including workers of MQM and PPP, were shot dead in separate targeted attacks in the metropolis on Sunday.
A worker of Muttahida Quami Movement was gunned down in New Karachi area within the remits of New Karachi Police Station. DSP Tahir Khan said that the victim, namely 30-year-old Naveed Sheikh, son of Fareed Sheikh, was sitting at a pan shop when two unidentified gunmen, riding a motorbike, opened fire on him and fled.
He died on the spot. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for autopsy. Khan said the victim was a worker of MQM. Separately, a worker of Pakistan People Party, 28-year-old Syed Fahad, son of Syed Ayub, was gunned down in Taiser Town area within the precincts of Surjani Town Police Station. Police officials said the victim was going to his friend’s place on a motorbike from New Karachi area, when two armed riders appeared on the scene and opened fire on him. He received three bullets and died on the spot.
The body was taken to the ASH for medico-legal formalities, and later handed over to the heirs.  Separately, a young man namely, Muhammad Shan, 30, was shot dead in Lyari area within the jurisdiction of Chakiwara Police Station. Police officials said the victim was on the way of his home from somewhere when unidentified assailants shot on his head and managed flee from the scene. Police handed over the body to his heirs after postmortem at Civil Hospital.
