Power shortfall surges to 7,000MW

The power shortfall on Monday reached 7,000 Megawatt across the country due to continuous shortage of oil and gas supply to power houses leading to an increase in unannounced loadshedding in the country.

According to the Pepco sources, PSO reduced fuel supply to IPPs and power houses due to which electricity is being generated around 10,000 MW while demand has increased to 17,000 MW.
Owing to the gap in supply and demand, loadshedding is on its peak in scorching heat and massive problems being faced by people.
In Lahore and other major cities of Punjab, residents were without electricity for up to 14 hours a day while power outages in rural areas have reached up to 20 hours.
