Cabinet to approve Trade Policy today

ISLAMABAD - Federal Cabinet meets here on Wednesday (today) under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf to give formal approval to the much awaited National Trade Policy 2012-15 besides taking up host of issues including a reflection on the ongoing political changes taking place in the national politics.Sources in the government informed TheNation that the National Trade Policy which was to be passed a year back would finally get the approval of the Federal Cabinet.Besides the approval of the National Trade Policy the Federal Cabinet would also accord approval Health Ordinance 2012 and a number of MOUs signed with various countries in the recent past.Sources in the government informed that Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik would give briefing to the Cabinet members on overall law and order situation in the country with specific reference to Karachi situation. He would also take the Cabinet members into confidence about his statement about the expected unrest in Karachi and the information on the basis of which he had dropped the hint.Sources in the government informed that President Asif Ali Zardari wanted to have the reflection of the Prime Minister and his Cabinet colleagues on the letter written by Chairman NAB Admiral (Retd) Fasih Bokhari to President raising serious reservations over the alleged undue pressure being exerted by Supreme Court on NAB. However, the decision to bring the matter before the Cabinet was yet not finalised.The overall political situation in the country, dissolution of Assemblies, and holding of elections of both National and Provincial Assemblies on same day and caretaker set-up would likely figure in the Cabinet meeting.
