QUETTA - Two police constables, including a member of Shia Hazara community, were shot dead in Arab Karam Khan Road here on Tuesday.Sariab police official Hashmatullah said unknown armed men in a car opened fire on the police constables who were riding a motorbike on Arbab Karam Khan Road near Farooq Floor Mills. As a result, they sustained fatal wounds and died on the spot. The attackers managed to escape after committing the crime.“Both the deceased were constables of Brewery police station and were on way to their duties when they came under the attack,” Hashmatullah said.Police and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. The deceased, identified as Constable Ali Dad Hazara and Constable Shahmir Baloch, were shifted to Bolan Medical Complex and Teaching Hospital (BMC) for medico-legal formalities. “It was an incident of sectarian killing,” the police said. The banned outfit, Jaish-ul-Islam, claimed responsibility for killing the constables.Meanwhile, a security personnel was wounded in a firing incident in Barkhan while in another incident, an Election Commission office was attacked with hand grenade on Tuesday.According to sources, unidentified armed men attacked a security check post with heavy weapons in Jibarpul area of Barkhan. As a result, a security personnel identified as Ishaq sustained injuries. The assailants managed to flee from the spot when security forces opened fire in retaliation. A search operation was kicked off in the area to trace the attackers.In another incident, unidentified people riding a motorbike hurled a hand grenade at the Election Commission office located on Jamoori Chowk, Khuzdar district. The grenade exploded with a huge blast and scattered windowpanes of the office. However, no loss of life was reported in the blast.Police and other law enforcement agencies rushed to the site and cordoned off the area.
