A- Relatives of four-year-old child, who died after falling in a lidless manhole, staged a demonstration against the negligence on the part of authorities concerned.
The lidless manhole claimed the life of four-year-old Abdullah, son of trader Muhammad Aamir, when he was playing in front of his home late Thursday.
After a hectic search, his body was retrieved from the manhole. The deceased was laid to rest amidst tears and shock in his native graveyard. Scores of people from all walks of life attended his funeral. The relatives placed his body on the road in Village Mitraanwali to protest against the administration. The protesters, carrying banners and placards, chanted slogans against the administration, calling for action against the TMA. The protesting villagers said that they have been making a litany of complaints to the authorities concerned but to no avail as the TMA was dragging feet over the matter. They called upon the authorities concerned to take action against the administration for exhibiting negligence.
