Rs350m scam: Corrupt patwaris go scot free

MAND I BAHAUDDIN - Rs350 million embezzlement in the Revenue Department in Mandi Bahauddin has rocked people of the district and officials as well but some blue-eyed patwaris are still enjoying impunity despite serious embezzlements, sources revealed. After the summons of all revenue officials on August 12 by the Chief Justice Lahore High Court, the local administration launched a detailed investigation into the matter and AC Shahid Imran Marth has suspended two revenue patwaris namely Imtiaz Sahi, Mohammad Nawaz Gondal and terminated Naib Qasid Mohammad Nawaz some days ago. The Tehsil Accounts Office has verified submission of fake bank receipts by various other patwaris but no action could be taken against such blue-eyed patwaris. Meanwhile, the Punjab government has transferred Additional Collector District Abdul Ghafoor Chaudhry to Kasur as DO-Human Resource Management and official sources claimed that the transfer was also made to show best face to the LHC on August 12. However, public circles have demanded action against all corrupt elements without any discrimination. RS250M FOR DEVELOPMENT: PML-N District President Dewaan Mushtaq Ahmed has flayed the protests by the PPP MPAs, belong to the district against the Punjab government and said that the Punjab government has released Rs250 million as first instalment for ADP. Talking to newsmen at his residence, the PML-N leader said that the PPP legislators launched the move in order to quench their political opposition. The Punjab government will continue its struggle for the sake of public and the finance all projects of the district, he claimed.
