RAJANPUR - The Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) finalised all necessary arrangements for the establishment of flood relief camps in and around the city to deal with any untoward situation during expected flood.
Jampur Assistant Commissioner Wahid Arjmand Zia said this while addressing a meeting of different departments, heads here the other day.
DSP Mahar Khadim Hussain, THQ Hospital MS Dr Tanveer Fatima, Irrigation Department Xen Sh Saifullah, Tehsildar Aftab Iqbal Gujjar, Chief Sanitary Officer Razzaq Khosa and DDO-Agriculture Faizullah attended the meeting.
The AC said that the TMA was well prepared to handle victims in case of an unpleasant incident during monsoon whether it would be because of spread of some infectious disease or accidents due to flood.
He said that a central control room would be set up at the AC office and a police picket would be set up at Jakhar Chowk.
At every dyke a committee would be constituted with the help of local residents. The Irrigation and Revenue departments would ensure security of the dykes, he added.
“The monsoon in the region causes spread of infectious diseases including gastroenteritis, cholera and diarrhea while the number of snakebite cases increases many times in peripheries”, he pointed out.
He also appealed to general public to use boiled water for drinking and not to consume food from vendors and local restaurants which were operating business in unhygienic conditions. The AC said that people should take extra care in consuming foodstuffs from markets.
