Moderate 5.5 quake hits Pakistan

islamabad : A moderate 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck northwestern and northern Pakistan on Sunday, with tremors felt in several cities, but officials said there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties. The epicentre was on the country’s border with Afghanistan and Tajikistan at a depth of 201 kilometres (125 miles), regional meteorological chief S. Mushtaq Shah told AFP.

The quake was felt in several northwestern cities including Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan and Charsadda and also in the northern town of Chitral, he said.
