QUETTA - Levies Force Balochistan on Friday foiled a kidnapping attempt killing five alleged abductors in Pishin district while three personnel of the security agency were also wounded in exchange of fire.

According to Levies Force sources, a group of armed men riding in two separate vehicles stormed Killi Malazai and Haikalzai basic health units in Pishin. They held hostage workers at gunpoint and later kidnapped four of them, including lady health visitor Shahnaz, Muhammad Irshad, Sabghatullah and Noor Shah, and drove them away towards an unspecified location.
Local administration, after getting information about the kidnapping of health workers, sent Levies personnel to rescue the officials. They chased the kidnappers and near Tormurgha area of Barshor got them. Levies officials managed to rescue the health workers after killing five kidnappers and arresting one in injured state. “Three Levies Force personnel identified as Ghulam Murtaza, Samiullah and Akthar Muhammad were injured while five kidnappers were killed after a heavy firefight,” an official said adding, the kidnappers appeared to be hailing from Waziristan.
It may be recalled here that armed men belonging to Waziristan had kidnapped six workers of Balochistan Rural Support Program (BRSP), a local NGO, from Barshor area on Dec 13, and demanded a huge ransom for their safe release after shifting them to Waziristan.
Similarly, eight Pakistani aid workers of US NGO were also abducted from Pishin in July last and later Taliban claimed responsibility for the abduction of these workers.
They remained in captivity of the abductors for about two months and were released after abductors were paid ransom.
