Anti-democracy forces to be defeated: PM

Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that enemies of democracy would be defeated.

Speaking at an inaugural ceremony of Virtual University Gojar Khan Campus here in Islamabad on Thursday, the Prime Minister said that masses would not allow anybody to derail the democratic process in the country and would stand up against any such attempt.
He said that there was independent judiciary and strong media in Pakistan. The prime minister said it was easy to make tall claims but was difficult to materialize them.
Ashraf said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was aware of its destination. He said that elections will be held in time and would not be postponed under any circumstances.
The Prime Minister said that the future of Pakistan is linked with democracy and all the political forces would defend democracy. He said that this is first time in the history of Pakistan that assemblies are completing their term.
He said that the PPP has rendered great sacrifices for democracy, supremacy of the constitution and parliament and welfare of common man. He said that credit goes to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto who gave political conscience to poor segments of the society.
Raja Pervez Ashraf said that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto sacrificed their lives for democracy. He said that the present government has not victimized its opponents because we believe in democracy.
The Prime Minister said that education is must for national development and the same had been advised by father of the nation, Qauid-i-Azam and Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
Raja Pervez Ashraf also launched the National Internship Programme whereby more than three thousand students would be provided scholarships. An amount of two point six billion rupees has been allocated for this purpose.
