KARACHI - At least two people were killed and three others injured in a powerful bomb blast in Sohrab Goth area here on Wednesday. The blast took place at an empty ground situated near Indus Plaza, al-Asif Square. The bomb was planted on a motorcycle parked near the narcotics den owned by an alleged drug peddler, Behram Khan. Rangers and police also reached the blast site and cordoned off the area. Police officials suspected the involvement of outlawed TTP in the blast. The victims who lost their lives in the bombings were yet to be identified. Tension prevailed in the area after the Bomb Disposal Squad’s experts found more explosives material placed inside a taxi which was parked near the blast site. The experts, however, were trying to defuse the bomb and mobile jammers were also called at the site. The cell phones of the law enforcers, media personnel and volunteers of different welfare associations were also switched off on the instructions of bomb disposal experts to avoid bomb blast at a taxi due to the rays of mobile phones. Meanwhile, a policeman was also injured when unidentified persons attacked the police near Sohrab Goth. Two armed men riding a motorcycle threw two locally made bombs from the Sohrab Goth flyover at the police mobile stationed for snap checking near Edhi morgue within the limits of Federal B Industrial Area police station. Police officials said that two armed men were behind the attack who hurled cracker at policemen.
