ISLAMABAD - Hearing the Workers Party petition regarding implementation of judgment about electoral reforms, the Supreme Court has asked the Attorney General to give its message to everyone that they would not allow delay of general elections in the name of legislation.A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry observed that the court would not do anything, which could give opportunity to anyone regarding the postponement of general elections.Jamat-e-Islami a Civil Miscellaneous Application (CMA) contending that the Supreme Court’s direction regarding door-to-door verification in Karachi is not being implemented fully.Meanwhile, the court has also sought report from Election Commission of Pakistan on February 13 regarding the implementation of its judgment on each point about electoral reforms.During the hearing, counsel for petitioner Bilal Minto argued before the bench that the court’s directions, proposals and observations pertaining to its judgment in workers party case have not implemented.Upon this, the chief justice questioned that why the SC’s judgment was not being implemented in letter and spirit. He said that people were protesting in Karachi due to this reason.The AGP told the court that ECP had sent its proposals to the law ministry for legislation two days ago and now the ministry was examining the commission’s suggestions in this regard. The CJP asked him that don’t left this matter on law ministry and talk with high ups regarding the completion of legislation process in a expedite way. He said everyone wants that legislation process should be completed as soon as possible.The case is adjourned until February 13.
