ISLA MABAD (APP)- Ministry of Tourism after consultation with provincial tourism ministries, tourism officials of AJK,Gilgit-Baltistan and all stakeholders including private tour operators has finalised New Tourism Policy that would be announced soon. New policy aims at winning the bygone glory of Pakistan in spectacular tourism sector, besides taking the country to new heights in the world of trade and travel. The new mutually agreed upon document primarily focus on preserving the existing sits and exploring new destinations across width and breadth of the country. It also takes on the woes to develop countrys tourism industry. The new policy also features a host of new projects at places hitherto undiscovered and unknown including 4100-feet high Shaikh Badin Peak in D.I.Khan. New policy carries ambitious plans to revive our tourism, Federal Tourism Minister Maulan Atta ur Rehman told this news agency. He opined that the tourism sector alone could have earn a huge revenue for the national kitty if it was given due attention. Look at Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Mauritius and other African countries...these are small countries, but generating billions of dollars through tourism, why cant Pakistan, the minister said. Pakistan is home to five out of 14 mountain peaks above 8000 metres (K 2, Nanga Parbat,Gasherbrum I, Gasherbrum II and Broad Peak). Besides, Pakistan also has the honour to have 70 per cent of mountain peaks of the world above 7000 metres. High altitude fresh water lakes, scenic valley, gushing rivers, vast deserts, archaeological heritage, diverse cultures and much more place Pakistan at a distinct position in the world. The minister also urged media to remove misconceptions of the people, especially westerns about Pakistan.
