The great fashion houses of the world put their wares on display at the runways of Milan, Paris and New York. Pakistan displays its fashion products â€" jewelry, makeup and clothing â€" through our rich and famous representatives of politics. According to public opinion polls, Sherry Rehman can be an idol for most ladies between the age group of 40 to 50 who like to keep people guessing about their age. Dr. Fehmida Mirza is the classic model for subtle, gracefully aging woman who aspires to be another Benazir Bhutto (in the making). Other femme beautiful (s) of our Parliament such as Kashmala Tariq, Marvi Memon and Sumaira Malik are also changing the views of our young, educated women, not just in politics but in fashion too. They are teaching our ladies on how to dress to impress. Thanks to them, the dupatta with a slight peek of side-swept bangs is definitely in fashion these days. Teenaged girls also have role models in Bakhtawar and Asifa Bhutto Zardari. Last but not the least, Begum Nawazish Ali is an inspiration for our bold and beautiful cross-dressers. -FAIQAH MUMTAZ, Islamabad, via e-mail, December 29.
