Terror strikes Islamabad
July 21, 2008 Terrorism has once again gripped Islamabad with the latest attack taking place at a police station near Lal Masjid. At least 19 persons including 16 policemen were killed and 42 others were injured. This has led to speculations that the blast could be linked to the first anniversary of the Lal Masjid or relating to the operations being carried out in FATA.
Whatever the cause may be it has again led to tragic loss of human life. It leads us to a question about the perpetrators; how can people perpetrating such attacks do such things. It is obvious that they have little regard for human life and want to create upheaval in our state. It is time the government clamped down with full might on these extremist elements who distort Islam for their own petty gains. -ZULFIKAR SAEED, Islamabad, via e-mail, July 7.
