Chief Manager Customer Services Sui Southern Gas Company Muhammad Khalid was shot dead and his driver injured on Monday in broad daylight in Quetta's satellite town, according to a private TV channel
According to the police gunmen on motorcycles opened fire on the vehicle of Muhammad Khalid near Goal Masjid area of Sattelite town.
He was killed on the spot whereas the assailants managed to escape from the spot while his driver sustained serious injuries and was shifted to civil hospital Quetta for medical treatment.
Police say it is an incident of target killing. Muhammad Khalid was currently serving as chief manager SSGC in Quetta.
His dead body has been shifted to civil hospital Quetta where a large number of people have gathered.
The killing of SSGC engineer sparked riots in the city as the angry SSGC employees blocked the Samungli road in protest over the killing.
Police had to fire tear gas to disperse the protestors.
Meanwhile Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani has condemned the incident and ordered an immediate inquiry.
Incidents of target killings have increased in Quetta during last one month.
