Prim e Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has approved to de-notify five judges of the Lahore High Court and Sindh High Court in pursuance of decision of the Chief Justice of Pakistan/Chairman, Supreme Judicial Council to de-notify the services of PCO judges. The judges who have been notified are Justice Syed Shabbar Raza Rizvi; Justice Syed Hamid Ali Shah; Justice Hasnat Ahmad Khan; Justice Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah of Lahore High Court and Justice Yasmin Abbasey of Sindh High Court. The apex court on a request by counsel for the Federation Babar Awan had given 9th August deadline to de-notify the services of these judges. The notification said these judges will be entitled for the service and pensioner benefits up to April 20, 2011 when Eighteenth Constitutional Amendment was passed. A spokesman for the Prime Minister House said the prime minister attaches great importance to the independence of judiciary. The designs of certain elements to pitch the institutions against each other will be foiled, he added.
