Police accused of slitting throat of accused in Muzaffargarh

Poli ce in Muzaffargarh on Monday allegedly tried to slit throat of an accused held by them on the charges of kidnapping. The accused victim, Ghulam Abbas was currently facing kidnapping charges and was arrested by police five days ago. During interrogation, police allegedly tried to slit his throat with a sharp-edged weapon. Taking notice of the incident, DCO Muzaffargarh has suspended two police personnel and ordered departmental inquiry against the accused personnel. Police investigation officer told a private TV channel that the detainee has attempted to commit suicide. Abbas was taken to Nishtar Hospital Multan in critical condition where his family members accused Sub-Inspector Afzal of taking bribe from the other party to slit throat of the detainee, Abbas and also to beat him mercilessly. Hospital sources said that Abbas was now in stable condition.
