Ex-PCB chief escapes attack in Karachi

Kara chi - Former PIA managing director and ex-chairman PCB Arif Ali Khan Abbasi miraculously remained unhurt in a failed car-jacking bid while his driver suffered critical injuries. According to information gathered from his family members, Mr Abbasi was coming home from the Arabian Sea Country Club Thursday when his vehicle got stuck in traffic jam near Quaidabad bridge. In the meantime, two men wearing shalwar kameez approached the driver and shouted at him to open the doors. Sensing trouble, he refused to obey them, at which they opened fire. One of the bullets hit the driver Waris in the abdomen while other bullet luckily missed Abbasi. The criminals managed to flee from the scene. Mr Abbasi rushed the driver to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical College where his condition is stated to be out of danger. No FIR of the incident was registered till filing this report.
