ISLAMABAD – There is no need to be defensive over the issue of National Reconciliation Ordinance, President Asif Ali Zardari has told the Pakistan People’s Party parliamentarians.
According to sources, the President gave this future line of action to his party MPs during an informal party meeting on late Tuesday night wherein Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani was also present.
The President advised the party members to go aggressive on political issues and thwart what he termed as negative propaganda against the PPP regime. He assured the MPs, especially the ministers belonging to the PPP, that they should not worry about the longevity of the party rule. He reiterated in a confident tone that the PPP would not only complete its current term but would also sweep the next elections.
During the dinner hosted by the President on Tuesday night, he was reported to be extremely happy over the launching of Balochistan package. Admitting the fact that Balochistan empowerment would be a lengthy agenda, he told his party MPs that PPP would have to come up to the anticipations of the estranged Balochs. He also hinted at paying special attention to the other deprived provinces and sources informed that he (Zardari) meant NWFP.
