India-Pakistan rivalry on show in T20

April 01, 2012

SYDNEY _ India and Pakistan have one of the most intense rivalries in international sport but that rivalry will be much more friendly when the local Canberra Indian and Pakistani communities play for the inaugural Akram-Tendulkar Shield today.
The Twenty20 match in Narrabundah may not be your typical hit-and-giggle game, with social cricketers from both community groups taking part.
Syed Jaffry, the captain of the Pakistan XI, and Chakradhar Ravinuthala of the India XI play together with Wests-UC but their club bonds will be forgotten when each proudly plays in their national colours, even if it is only temporarily.
