KARACHI - Pakistan will select a three-member amateur team to appear in Eisenhower world team golf and Sri Lankan national championship at the end of the Sindh Open Golf which will conclude here on July 8 at Arabian Sea Country Club.
Eisenhower world team event will be played in Turkey some time in October while Sri Lankan national championship will be played a month earlier. In the CNS golf Ali Hai and young Mubariz Ahmed took top two places in the amateur category while Ghazanfer and Sajid Khan tied for third place.
In the last Eisenhower trophy played in Argentina Ali Hai, Hamza Amin and Safdar represented Pakistan. All arrangements to hold the Sindh Open have been completed. As many as hundred professionals and about fifty amateurs are expected to appear in the three day 54-hole championship which is sponsored by Sindh Golf Association’s. 1.2 million prize money will be at stake for the professional championship.
The prize money for the senior event has been enhanced to rupees one lac.
Sindh Golf Association has in principle decided to enhance the prize money for next year event to Rs. 1.5 million.
M Munir will be defending his title at Sindh Open. He and Shabbir Iqbal who won the CNS open about a week back will be main contenders for the title. The professional stars who are practicing at the Clubs lush green course have praised the arrangements at the club. Some of the professionals have been given rooms at the Arabian Sea Country Club which has about 50 well furnished rooms.
