LAHORE – Pakistan U-19 batsman Sami Aslam dedicating his first achievement to his father M Aslam in form of superb performance in the U-19 Asia Cup has said that he is committed to fulfill his father’s aim of becoming one of the best batsmen of the world.

He said that the ACC U-19 Asia Cup proved too good for him and he really worked hard to make it a pleasant one. “I tried my best to make the U-19 Asia Cup a successful event for me and by the grace of Allah, I have succeeded in achieving my aim. I have leant a lot from this tour which is a so far a great start towards ICC U-19 World Cup.”
Talking about team management and coach, he said: “The team combination was very good therefore it is retained for the upcoming U-19 World Cup. The team management was very good and provided us help wherever it was required and it was due to their sincere efforts, we became the joint winners of the Asia Cup.”
“Sabih Azhar is very hard working and dedicated coach who always has one-two-one talks with the players and guide them very well. His coaching technique is very fine and impressive and he tries his best to train us very well.”
Talking about the preparations of U-19 World Cup, Sami said: “We are preparing well for the upcoming U-19 World Cup and the management also is striving hard to make us ready for the mega event. There will be a good competition with the teams like India, Australia and South Africa and we will try our best to win and bring the World Cup to our country.”
To a query regarding his favorite cricketer, he replied: “Pakistan stylish left handed batsman Saeed Anwar is his all time favourite batsman and I like the way he used to bat and play beautiful drives to every corner of the ground. Suresh Raina’s batting style is also very striking.”
When this scribe contacted Sami’s father M Aslam, who himself is a former first class cricketer, he said: “The target which I gave to Sami, he achieved it successfully by the grace of Allah. I have advised him try to score hundreds against big and strong teams and he had done it in the U-19 Asia Cup and proved his mettle after becoming the best batsman of the event. I hope he will also play well in the U-19 World Cup and bring glory to Pakistan.”

He has said that his son is very hard working and committed player who never shirk work and keeps on practicing well till the target is achieved. “I wish he may perform well in the U-19 World Cup and help Pakistan team to win the World Cup. I am hopeful that with his dedication and sincere efforts, he will prove his mettle at international level and will be succeeded in getting berth in the national team which is the biggest wish of me and my family,” he concluded.
