PFF slams POA for excluding football from National Games
LAHO
RE Pakistan Football Federation Secretary General Lt Col (r) Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi has
slammed the Pakistan Olympic Association for excluding football from the 31st National Games
to be staged in Peshawar next month.
These types of decisions will send negative impression to all those who are associated with the
game or want to seek their future in it, he added.
The decision to exclude football has raised several eyebrows, Lodhi said.
It is most-watched game in Pakistan but the way it has been treated is insulting. All the world
cuppers and Olympians are furious over the omission and are looking forward to condemn this
ruling in every possible way, he said.
Lodhi wrote a letter to POA President Lt Gen (Retd) Syed Arif Hasan and sent a copy to PSB
Director General and Ministry of Sports and said that Football was not only the most popular and
widely played game of the world, but also was the most widely played game in Pakistan. The
decision of excluding this game from the eagerly-awaited National Games is wrong and
damaging for the development of the game. There are over 60000 registered football players in
Pakistan. The number of unregistered players, according to a rough estimate is more than one
million. All these players always look forward to represent their Regional / provincial teams in the
National Games. These games also provide a very good opportunity of talent hunt to PFF.
