ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Davis Cupper Samir Iftikhar entered the second round of the Aegon British Tour Circuit currently underway at Nottingham Tennis Centre UK with hard fought 4-6, 6-2 and 6-2 victory against James Hignet, this was revealed by Tayyab Iftikhar, father of Samir in an exclusive talk with TheNation on Saturday.
He further said, Samir had to play three qualifying round matches and after winning these matches will move to the main round of the championship.
Samir lost the first set 4-6, but bounced back strongly to win the next two sets by 6-2, 6-2. He will play now fifth seed ATP ranked Keelan Oakley of Great Britain and with his present form and fitness, if things went right Samir would beat his far superior opponent, Tayyab concluded.
