CHI As many as 42 selected girls appeared in one-day trials organised by Sindh Womens Hockey Association (SWHA) here Saturday at Hockey Club of Pakistan (HCP).
The trials were held on the directives of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) to pick Sindh womens hockey players for the national training which will be organised at Lahore later this month.
At the end of the national training camp which is expected to conclude some time in the middle of May, the PHF will select Pakistan team for Asian Games qualifying round which will be played in Bangkok later in the month of May.
Secretary SWHA Lubna Baloch, who organised the trials here, said the association had already held first phase of trials this month at Sukkur where girls from Larkana, Khairpur and Nawabshah also appeared. The second phase of trials were held at Hyderabad where girls from Mirpurkhas also appeared.
The trials at Karachi on Saturday was trial number three. The SWHA held trials at three places because it wanted to give opportunity to maximum number of girls from the province. Had the trials been held at one centre at Karachi a number of interested girls mostly from the interior of Sindh may have missed them because they had to travel to Karachi on their own.
