ISLAMABAD - Raja Husnain and Aamir Saeed win the U-16 and U-19 Boy’s singles titles by defeating Muqeet Tahir 2-0 and Ali Raza 2-0 in the finals of the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Badminton Championship 2012 here at Rodham Hall, Pakistan Sports Complex on Tuesday.
Aamir of Punjab outplayed Ali in straight games 2-0 in the U-19 final. The score was 21-12 and 21-16.
Raja Husnain proved too good for his rival to beat 21-18 and 21-16. Earlier, in the men’s doubles semi-final, Rizwan Azam/Kashif Solari of NBP toppled Ahsan Qamar/Wajid Ali in straight games 2-0 after a thrilling encounter.
The second semi-final was proved a single-sided affair in which Wapda’s pair Rizwan Rana/Imran Mohib thrashed Nabeel/Shabbir 2-0 with score of 21-18, 21-13.
The doubles final will be played today.
Men’s doubles semi-finals:
Rizwan Azam/Kashif Solari (NBP) bt Ahsan Qamar (PIA)/Wajid Ali Ch (Wapda) 22-20, 21-19; Rizwan Rana/Imran Mohib (Wapda) bt Pervaiz Akhtar (AJK)/Shabbir Hussain (Punjab) 21-18, 21-13.
Boy’s U-16 final:
Raja Husnain (Punjab) beat Muqeet Tahir also from Punjab 21-18, 21-16.
