ISLAMABAD - Sajid Ali and Hamza Abbasi powered Diamond Cricket Club to a nail-biting win over visiting Muslim Gymkhana Lahore in an inter-city promotional cricket match played here at Diamond Ground.
Sajid Ali hit up prolific 88 helped Diamond Club to one wicket win in the final over and Moeid blasted 40.
Earlier, Muslim Gymkhana piled up 241 in 40 overs with Mohsin Ali scoring 79 and Arsalan Bajwa made 76. Diamond’s Hamza Abbasi took five-wicket for 19 runs and left-arm slow bowler Abdul Majid took 4 for 47.
Diamond Club achieved the target in the last over with a one-wicket win. Sajid Ali scored 88 with Moeid Shaikh (40) and Zohaib Ahmed (33) also played well.
Diamond’s Sajid Ali was declared man of the match. President Islamabad Cricket Association Shakil Shaikh and former Test umpire Mian Asalm distributed prizes.
Shields and souvenirs were given to Shakil Shaikh, Mian M Aslam, Secretary ICA Nasir Iqbal, Ajmal Sabir, and Javed Ali Khan. Zohaib Ahmed received the winners trophy.
