LAHORE – As many as 33 matches were decided in the Chroma Open Table Tennis Tournament here at the Chroma Table Tennis Hall on Saturday. A good competition was seen between senior and up-coming players and 16 matches were decided in group A and 17 in group B. Shahzaib Maqbool and Waqas Ayub qualified for the second stage group leagues by beating Abid Iqbal and Abdul Waheed respectively.
In group A, Asim Aziz, Asim Qureshi, Salman Virk, Faryal Minhas, Waqas Ayub, Faryal Minhas, Jehangir Khan and Hafiz Zeeshan won their respective matches while in group B, the winning players were Mehboob Elahi, Qasim Aziz, Yasir Bhatti, Umer Zaka, Bilal Yasir, Bilal Yasin, Shahzaib Maqbool, M Abdullah.
Each group comprises nine players and each player played four matches. Four players from each group will qualify for final league of eight which will be played today (Sunday). The winners will be awarded with cash prizes and gifts.
