CHI - Shabbir Iqbal and M Munir have been selected to represent Pakistan in World Cup Asian qualifying golf which will be held at Seri Selangor Club (Malaysia) August 3 to 6.
Matloob Ahmed as was expected failed to get the nod of the Pakistan Golf Federation selectors who adopted qualifying standard sat by the Asian Tour under which those players who are in their ranking would get preference to play in the qualifiers. According to Asian Tour ranking Shabbir Iqbal is rankled 50 and M Munir 57th.
Even on National ranking which is determined on average score Shabbir Iqbal and Muhammad Munir are one and two. However Matloob Ahmed is ranked second on money earning ranking while Shabbir Iqbal lead that table.
Muhammad Munir is third on that ranking.
The format of competition at the biennial World Cup Asian Qualifying will be the same as the Omega Mission Hills World Cup, with four-ball (better ball) being played in the first and third rounds and foursomes (alternate shot) used in the second and final rounds.
