ISLAMABAD - Raja Shahid of Islamabad Tennis Complex created first upset of the tournament after handing shocking defeat to Syed Zohair Raza in three hard fought sets in the first round of the Vigo Champ Subh-e-Nau National Tennis Championship here at Islamabad Club on Wednesday.
Shahid stage a remarkable recovery after losing first set as he bounced back to win the next two sets to qualify for the second round.
Syed Zohair Raza started as strong favourite to win the game but failed to handle the speed and powerful volleys of Shahid and lost the match 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. 
M Abid, former Davis Cupper Asim Shafique, Talha Zubair, Ahmed Babar, Sanaullah Khan, Abid Ali Akbar and Usman Rafique also entered the next round.  Second round of Men’s singles will be played today.
Talha Zubair struggled to beat Muzammil to enter the next round of Boy’s U-18. Iftikhar Ahmed, Arham Atique, Haseeb Yaqoob, Kashanul Haq, Raja Shahid, M Mudassir and Ahmed Babar won their matches easily.
Sahibzada M Ali and Talha bin Asif won their first round matches while Heera Ashiq/Wakeel Khan and Zohair Raza/Sadanul Haq reached next round of Men’s doubles.
Men’s Singles second round matches will be played today at 8:30pm, while Boy’s U-14 matches will start at 4pm, Ladies singles and Seniors 55 plus category matches will be played at 5pm.
