KARACHI - Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has taken very serious notice of growing activities of extortion mafia in Karachi and ordered the law enforcement agencies to ensure that no harassment was created by any culprit. A high-level meeting, that was co-chaired by Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Monday set up a task force to end extortions in the provincial hub of country. Reviewing law and order situation in Karachi, it appreciated the professionalism and dedication of rangers and police. The meeting observed that the law and order situation in Karachi was one of the main concerns of the Government of Sindh. The meeting further said that the concerted efforts had been made to improve the situation of Karachi. It was observed that rangers were specially requisitioned by the Government of Sindh, particularly for Karachi, and it had empowered Rangers vide Section of 5 ATA 1997 to undertake this task.
