Two die in Kurram landmine blast

KURRAM AGENCY/PESHAWAR - At least two passengers were killed and nine others sustained injuries in a landmine explosion while a group of masked gunmen abducted eight tribesmen in central Kurram Agency on Saturday, sources. A passenger wagon was on the way to Para Chamkani in Kurram when it hit a landmine that exploded, killing two passengers and injuring nine others. The deceased were identified as Yar Khan and Noor Muhammad Khan. Two women Noor Jehana and Shamim Bibi are among the injured who were shifted to hospital where the condition of Shamim Bibi is stated to be in critical. The other injured are drive Sharif, Khaista Meer, Rehmatullah, Arifullah, Muhammad Khan, Gul Rahim and Arshad Khan. The security men rushed to the site and launched a search operation after cordoning off the area. However no arrest was made till filing of this report. Separately, eight tribesmen were kidnapped by a masked armed group from Tendo area when they were on the way to lower parts of the agency, according to the sources, according to sources. The kidnapers also took three cars, the adducted tribesmen were travelling in, away said the sources, adding that the identity of the kidnapped tribesmen was not ascertained as yet. Meanwhile, militants torched a Nato tanker near Kharkhano Market in Peshawar, spoiling thousands of litres of oil for US-led forces fighting Taliban in Afghanistan. They said unidentified gunmen attacked and torched the Nato oil tanker that caught fire, destroying the tanker and spoiling the oil. In a separate incident, fire broke out in another Nato tanker, carrying sugar, parked there due to technical problem. However, no causality was reported. The law enforcers along rescue worker and firefighters rushed to the spot and cordoned off. After hectic efforts, the fire was extinguished.
