ISLAMABAD - President Asif Ali Zardari Friday congratulated the newly elected office-bearers of All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS). The President felicitated Hameed Haroon on his re-election as the president and said it showed the confidence of the members in his leadership. He hoped they would work even harder for the welfare of their community. The President also reiterated the governments support in upholding the freedom of expression in the country. NNI adds: National Assembly Speaker Fehmida Mirza and Deputy Speaker Faisal Karim Kundi congratulated Hameed Haroon, Mehtab Khan, Sarmad Ali, Umer Mujib Shami and Rameeza Majid Nizami on being elected as president, senior vice president, general secretary, vice president and joint secretary of APNS respectively. In their separate messages to the office-bearers, the speaker and the deputy speaker said their election was an evidence of the trust and confidence that members of general council of the APNS reposed in them. They expressed hope that newspapers and publication industry would progress under their guidance and it would also guide govt to improve governance and formulate pro-public policies. Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Industries and Production Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani also congratulated the newly-elected office-bearers of All Pakistan Newspaper Society (APNS).
