QUETTA At least seven footballers were killed and 12 others wounded in a road mishap that took place in Sourab area of District Kalat, some 210 kilometres away from here on Sunday night. According to police sources, a group of footballers was returning to Kalat after playing a match in neighbouring Khuzdar District when their vehicle collided with a truck, coming from opposite direction near Neghar area of Sourab. Resultantly, seven footballers were killed on the spot while 12 others sustained serious injuries. The deceased and injured were shifted to nearby hospital. Six deceased were identified as Ali Ahmed, Sulman, Muhiuddin. Muhammad Rahim, Majid Hussain and Saifullah. While Abdul Salam, Allah Bakhsh, Jamil Ahmed, Muhammad Hussain, Nabi Bakhsh, Khalil Ahmed, Sadam and Manzoor Ahmed were among the injured. Hospital sources said condition of some injured was serious while two critically injured were referred to a hospital in Khuzdar. On getting information, police reached the spot and started investigation. Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Aslam Raisani expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of footballers and directed hospital authorities to provide proper medical treatment to the injured.
