Driver, cleaner injured in attack on NATO oil tanker

QUETTA Two people, including a driver of tanker supplying fuel to NATO forces deployed in Afghanistan, were wounded Wednesday when unknown armed assailants sprayed a volley of bullets on oil tanker, near Sibi town, 320 km south-east of Quetta. Police sources said that the incident occurred close to Pirak Railway Station when three unknown motorcyclists opened indiscriminate firing at vehicle and fled from the scene that resulted into the injuries of driver Khair Mohammad and his cleaner Sadam Hussain. Sources further said that owing to intense firing, oil tanker caught fire and was badly damaged, besides destroying thousands of litters of fuel that spilled over the ground. The tanker was heading towards Kandahar from Karachi via Jacobabad-Sibi when it came under attack. On getting information, personnel of law enforcement agencies rushed to the site and cordoned off the area. The injured were shifted to local hospital for first aid and later, shifted to Quetta for better treatment. Police has registered a case against unidentified persons and started further investigation. Dozens of oil tankers and trailers carrying fuel and goods for US-led coalition forces stationed in Afghanistan fighting Taliban have been attacked in different parts of Balochistan while in these attacks many drivers have lost their lives.
