PESHAWAR The legislators of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Friday unanimously condemned attack on the hujra of provincial assemblys Speaker by enraged people protesting against loadshedding, besides, the lawmakers also came down hard on WAPDA for carrying out hours-long power outages creating law and order situation. The lawmakers said that it was the responsibility of WAPDA to repair faulty installations and ensure uninterrupted electricity supply. But unfortunately enraged power consumers expressed their anguish over public representatives due to unscheduled loadshedding. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly met with Speaker Kiramatullah Khan in the chair. Taking part in the debate, PPP-S parliamentary leader Sikandar Sherpao proposed passage of a unanimous resolution against the incompetence of WAPDA, while Javed Abbasi of PML-N demanded stern action against those involved in ransacking the hujra of the Speaker Kiramatullah Khan, by infuriated people protesting against loadshedding. Deputy Speaker Khushdil Khan said that peaceful protest was right of the people, but taking law into their own hands was totally illegal and unlawful and called for summoning Federal Minister for Water and Power, Chairman WAPDA and Chief Executive PESCO to the house for the solution of electricity problems in the province once and for all. On his turn, Saqibullah Khan Chamkani, MPA of the ruling ANP, said that the attack was not on an individual but on the custodian of the provincial assembly and called for an immediate suspension of the Chairman and Secretary WAPDA. Similarly, the ANPs another legislator Ateef-ur-Rehman, attributed the incident to the negligence by WAPDA, while the PPPs Abdul Akbar Khan said that Federal Minister for Water and Power, Raja Pervez Ashraf is taking no interest to overcome electricity problems. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Livestock Haji Hidayatullah demanded investigation into the incident to bring the involved elements into justice. PML-N Parliamentary leader Pir Sabir Shah said that carrying out 12 to 18 hours long power outage in the holy month of Ramazan would certainly create such episode, saying today electricity consumers attacked the Hujra of the Speaker and tomorrow they could also attack residences of other members. He proposed the construction of more dams to utilise the hydropower generating potential of the province. Taking the floor, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister Bashir Ahmad Bilour said that miscreants exploit such occasions to defame the government. In the same breath, he asked the federal government to minimise the duration of loadshedding being carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province forthwith. While assuring his colleagues, the PPP Senior Minister, Rahimdad Khan said that Federal Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervez Ashraf would be invited to the house. He maintained that the minister had promised to visit the assembly, adding that federal minister had neither ignored nor would ignore the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in future. The Speaker thanked the members for expressing solidarity with him and added that the ransacking was the work of the miscreants. He said the hujra was constructed by his father having no boundary wall was a place for holding meetings for the solution of peoples problems. On the occasion, a joint resolution of Manawar Sultana and Tabbasum Shams Kathozai for conducting ECG and ultrasound through women technicians was passed unanimously after Provincial Minister for Health, Syed Zahir Ali Shah said more than 700 women technicians were being trained under crash programme in the province in two badges. The assembly also passed five resolutions unanimously and one with majority. The joint resolution of PML-Qs Nighat Yasmin Orakzai and ANPs Manawar Sultana regarding measures for provision of the facility of technical education to women was adopted unanimously. Besides, the house adopted Habib-ur-Rehman Tanolis resolution asking for starting the construction work on Hazara Express Way to arrest the growing traffic accidents. Similarly, the resolution of Tabassum Shams Kathozai against the quacks and so-called faith hailers was passed unanimously with minor amendment. The resolution PPP-S Mohammand Ali Khan for handing over the Shabqadar-Abazai Road to Frontier Highway Authority (FHA) was passed with majority, while the resolution of Malik Qasim Khattak for provision of natural gas facility to some areas of the district Karak was passed unanimously. Moreover, the resolution of Musarrat Shafi of ANP regarding establishment of separate Hepatitis B and C units for patients in all district headquarters hospitals was dropped after the house rejected it with majority.
