Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief, Altaf Hussain in an open letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan has appealed him for courageous decisions to guide the country out of the economic crisis. Altaf in his letter to the CJP said that the military generals, bureaucrats, feudal lords and industrialists have borrowed trillions of rupees from the banks during 1971 to 2009 and later got the loans written off. He demanded strict accountability of those individuals adding that the amount borrowed by them should be brought back to the national exchequer. MQM Leader further said that the country has been in a state of war and price hike, unemployment and hunger have made the life miserable. The provinces are angry over injustices and deprivation while thousands have been in jails under various charges and their families are living in misery. The lawyers, civil society and political and religious parties launched a courageous movement for provision of justice, end of corruption and against the dictatorial steps of the governments, he said. He requested the Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry to treat his letter as a suo moto petition so as the country could be taken out of the economic crisis.
