SWAT - At least five persons including two prominent commanders of Taliban were killed and two security personnel were injured in separate incidents of firing and shelling here on Sunday. Meanwhile, two rockets were fired on NWFP Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti's native home in Mardan. According to Inter-Services Public Relation (ISPR) sources, two prominent Taliban leaders were killed during the shelling of security forces on suspected hideouts of the militants in Sumbut area of tehsil Matta. The security forces also launched door-to-door search operation in Sumbut and arrested many suspected persons. According to local sources, three persons including a woman were killed in Khwazakhaila, Matta, during shelling. Some armed militants also attacked the residence of a doctor in the same locality, however no casualty was reported. In another incident, two personnel of the security forces got injured when a remote controlled device hit their vehicle. Both of them were rushed to Saidu Sharif Hospital. It is pertinent to mention that the number of patients in local hospitals here has risen to 2,100 and hundreds of them are in serious condition. Agencies add: Miscreants fired two rockets near the native home of NWFP Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti located at Mardan-Nowshera Road on Sunday night. Talking to a private TV channel, NWFP Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Hussain has confirmed the incident and said the target was residence of the Chief Minister. Amir Haider Khan Hoti was in Peshawar at the time of incident. Rockets hit the houses adjacent to the native home of Amir Haider Khan Hoti. Unknown miscreants Sunday evening fired two rockets from undisclosed location which fell in Sheikh Multoon area near the house of Chief Minister NWFP Amir Haider Hoti in Mardan district, DPO Muhammad Iqbal Khan said. He said that one of the rockets landed at an open area of Sharifabad while the other hit the ground at Ghareebabad in posh Sheikh Maltoon Town on Nowhsera-Mardan Road. Khan said no casualty had been reported. The site of blasts is one kilometre away from the ancestral residence of CM Hoti, he added. The senior police officer said that both the rockets were exploded with a big bang and made craters. Khan said pieces of the rockets had been recovered and investigation had been started. He said that outer walls of a house were slightly damaged. Soon after the incident, the police cordoned off the area and nobody was allowed to enter Sheikh Multoon. Search for the suspected persons has been started, the DPO said.
