Due to sheer negligence and cold-blooded indifference of administration and price committees, hoarders, profiteers and black marketers are enjoying a free-for-all spree by charging their self proclaimed rates for commodities. Among exorbitant prices of various commodities, sugar was retailing at Rs.100 per kilo, wheat flour at Rs.36/- per kilo, grams lentil at Rs. 75/- per kilo, Ghee at Rs.150/- per kilo, grapes at Rs. 250/- per kilo, eggs at Rs. 80 per dozen, mutton at Rs.400/- and beef at Rs. 200/- among others. Failure of administration to maintain checks and balance on such discriminations have reduced the hapless masses to extreme edges, and they are known to be cursing government for all the ills.
