LAHORE Claiming to fill the gap between electricity demand and supply, Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) claimed that there has been no loadshedding across the country on Thursday night. According to the power ministry and the Pepco, the power plants of Hubco, Kapco, Orient, SAF, Sapphire, Chashma-1, Chashma-2 and others resumed their full operation, thereby bringing the overall generation up at 13,200MW, equal to the electricity demand during Thursday night. The national grid Wednesday faced 3,181MW shortfall, as the demand was 16,500MW against generation of 13,319MW, stated the Pepco. But after the 24 hours the remaining power plants of IPPs resumed their operation and on Thursday night there has been no gap between demand and supply, said the ministry and the national power distribution company. Chashma Nuclear Power Plant-1, with a capacity of 300MW, resumed its operation after remaining shut for past one week. Power supply from Jamshoro Thermal increased by 100MW and 300MW was added in the energy basket from the thermal units of Muzafargarh. The total generation by the thermal plants, standing at 1,226MW on Wednesday, has been raised to 1,700MW. The Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) also announced the end of unannounced loadshedding in the limits of the company. New Lesco Chief Sharafit Ali Sial advised the operational superintendents not to conduct unannounced shutdown at the grid stations and asked the Lescos consumers to lodge immediate complaint if they found any problem in electricity supply in their areas.
