Militants kill 3 cops in Hangu, abduct 3 others

HANGU - At least three policemen were killed and several others injured when militants attacked a security forces' check-post in Dellan, an area close to Thall in Hangu District, on Tuesday late night. The militants also abducted three policemen from the place. According to details, a large number of militants attacked the check-post with rockets and other sophisticated heavy weapons, incidentally killing the three policemen and injuring several others. The post was also completely destroyed as result of the attack. The District Police Officer Sajjad Khan has confirmed the killings. The killed policemen have been identified as Fazal Rahim, Taimur Khan and Zait Ullah. Meanwhile, the names of the three abducted policemen are Pir Jamal, Akhlaq and Tariq. Two of them, namely Mohib Ullah and Shakir Ullah, somehow managed to escape from the militants' custody. After the incident, the authorities beefed up security all over Hangu District, especially in the areas bordering with Orakzai and Kurram agencies. Moreover, the local administration, in a bid to ensure maximum security during Moharram processions, has imposed curfew in the town, sealed it from all sides and deployed heavy contingents of police and Frontier Constabulary.
