Afghan, NATO forces fire rockets into Pakistan

Afghan and NATO-led troops fired rockets into Pakistan's tribal region of North Waziristan on Friday, causing no injuries. Residents were quoted as saying that around 18 mortar shells landed near a security forces checkpost at Ghulam Khan border area, adding the security force returned fire. The incident took place a day after Pakistani, Afghan and Nato military officials met in the Peshawar to discuss preventing repeat of cross border firing. 55 security Personnel were killed and over 80 others injured in five cross border attacks in Dir district, Bajaur and Mohmand tribal regions in a month time. On the other hand, security forces killed 11 more militants and destroyed several militant hideouts in an operation in Kurram Agency. The militants sought refuge in the Pungi, Spairkut and Qrut areas of the Central Kurram Agency. Seven militants were also injured in the operation. These areas have been cleared of militants. The troops are advancing further into militant territory as the battle proceeds
