Asif, Services Chiefs discuss security

ISLAMABAD - The Services Chiefs Tuesday called on President Asif Ali Zardari at the Aiwan-e-Sadr and discussed matters pertaining to country's security and operational preparedness of the armed forces. According to the informed sources, Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Tanveer Mehmood Ahmed and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Noman Bashir paid separate calls on the President. The President said that the armed forces would be equipped with modern weapons to enhance their professional capabilities. President Zardari congratulated Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Noman Bashir on assuming the charge of his new responsibilities and hoped that under his able leadership Pakistan Navy will grow stronger. The Chief of Navel Staff thanked the President for reposing confidence in him and said that he will try his best to come up to his expectations. Meanwhile, Advisor on the National Security Mehmood Durrani also called on the President and discussed issues of national interest with him. Agencies add: The three services chiefs discussed with the President war on terror, border situation and other defence-related matters.
