ISLAMABAD The Government on Tuesday finalised two high profile appointments namely Chief Secretary Sindh and Governor State Bank of Pakistan, well-placed officials sources confirmed to TheNation. According to sources, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has approved posting of Secretary Petroleum and Natural Resources Kamran Lashari as Chief Secretary Sindh. Consequent upon the PMs approval, the Establishment Division has also issued a notification in this regard. Lashari is most likely to take charge of his assignment on Wednesday (today). The PM Secretariat issued a late night press release stating, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has approved the appointment of Kamran Lashari as Chief Secretary, Government of Sindh, with immediate effect. Kamran Lashari was serving as Secretary Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources. Regarding the appointment of Shahid Hafeez Kardar as Governor State Bank of Pakistan, the Prime Minister Secretariat has sent the summary proposal to the Presidency, the sources said. Since the President was away and reached back from Sindh late Tuesday evening, he could not take up the latest communications from Prime Ministers Secretariat, said Farhatullah Babar, the Spokesman to the President. Earlier sources told TheNation that the President, too, had approved, in principle, the appointment of Kardar as Governor SBP and formalities would be fulfilled on Wednesday. The sources were of the view that notification in this regard was most likely to be issued on Wednesday enabling Kardar to take charge before Eid holidays.
