PESHAWAR - The ruling ANP-PPP alliance in NWFP has formally agreed to get five seats each in the upcoming elections of the Upper House of the Parliament scheduled on March 04, 2009. Sources privy to the meeting of top leadership of Awami National Party and Pakistan People's Party Sunday revealed that both the parties had agreed to contest on five Senate seats each in the upcoming elections, whereas one seat would be allotted to the JUI-F for being partner at the Centre. The sources said that the ANP had time and again demanded of the PPP to allot it six seats due to its more presence in the Provincial Assembly but its demand was not accepted. The seasoned and active workers of the ANP and PPP have submitted their applications for contesting the elections. Almost seven aspirants got nomination papers on Sunday from the provincial election commission offices, as all EC offices remained open in the country. It is worth mentioning here there are 11 general seats of the Upper House for the province on which the elections would be held.
